WINSFORD will have some fun as it celebrates its history.
The Salt Fair makes a welcome return this week, with family-friendly events and activities taking place across the town.
Live music will entertain crowds on Marina Island, Sharlands Fun Fair will take over Church Street, and for the first time Brunner Guildhall will welcome visitors for a Heritage Open Day as part of the festivities.
It all gets underway today, Wednesday, when town mayor, Cllr Wayne Fletcher, reads the Salt Fair Charter in the town centre at 6pm.
He said: “We hope as many people as possible can attend all the events over the weekend.
“The Heritage Open Day is just a part of the Salt Fair event which takes place every year and celebrates the heritage of the town as well as giving people the chance to have fun and enjoy themselves."
The fun fair opens on Thursday (September 12) and will remain at Church Street Car Park until Sunday (September 15).
A number of rides have already been announced, including Toxic, Mexican Wave, the Waltzer and, new for 2024, Meteorite.
On Saturday (September 14), the doors of the Brunner Guildhall building will be thrown open as part of the Heritage Open Days for 2024.
From 10am-2pm, anyone wishing to visit the historic building can head along and enjoy a selection of things celebrating the town’s heritage, including information on Winsford’s links with Guernsey, an ‘Antiques Roadshow’ type event, and a performance from the Ageless Ukes.
Cllr Fletcher added: “I can't wait to open the doors on the Guildhall and show off the heritage of the town.
“Once again, we are trying something new for the town and I really hope that residents will get involved and bring down their antiques to be valued."
In the afternoon, celebrations move onto Marina Island, where a mix of music, food and entertainment will be on offer.
The Marina event takes place from 1pm to 8pm and will feature performances from Fancy Feet, Joseph Palin and Small Horse and the Plan.
The fun continues on Sunday (September 15) with a troupe dancing competition at the Lifestyle Centre.
