POLICE have laid out their plan to tackle crime at an anti-social behaviour hotspot.
Residents have been urged to avoid going near the disused Leftwich Green Community Support Centre.
It comes following a spate of criminal damage and anti-social behaviour at the former care home.
On Wednesday (September 4), PCSO Lee Robertson met with Northwich Town Council and Cheshire West and Chester Council representatives to come up with a solution.
“Within this meeting it was discussed what was happening and how the building can be made more secure,” said a spokesperson for Northwich Police.
“It was decided that there will be extra metal fencing being erected from Friday (September 6) which will be bolted on the walls and fencing that is in place already.
“The fencing that is already in place will have anti-vandal paint placed onto it.”
Leftwich Green Community Support Centre was shut down by Cheshire West and Chester Council in 2018.
It has become a target for vandals since then, with police adding it to their patrol plan in 2023 following a series of break-ins.
These patrols, combined with new fencing, helped stamp out this behaviour and eventually the building was taken off the force’s plan.
This summer problems have arisen again and at the start of September response officers were sent to the scene, where a youth was arrested.
Officers also stop searched two other youths before taking them back to their home addresses.
“Moving forward with the new fencing in place, PCSO Robertson will still have the area on his patrol plan and if there is anyone in the area they may be subjected to questioning and stop searched due to the number of issues that have occurred,” the police spokesperson added.
“Therefore, we do advise if you know of anyone that has been around the area, please advise them to stay away from the area.
“Also, if we do ask if there is any further issues with youths or any other person trying to gain entry or damaging the building, please dial 999 immediately.”
