A FINAL call has been issued to get tickets for a ‘hill-arious’ evening of first-class theatre in Winsford.

The award-winning Mikron Theatre Company are returning to Winford Academy on Friday, September 13 with their new production, Common Ground – Rambling and Our Rights of Way.

It tells the story of the Pendale and District Ramblers, who are looking forward to celebrating ‘in stile’ on their 50th anniversary walk.

But with their path blocked by the landowner, their quest for freedom and fresh air won’t be easy, as they navigate bulls, beavers, and wandering sheep.

Mikron specialises in touring towns without their own theatre – often in their own Narrowboat - bringing first-class professional drama wherever the call takes them.

Acclaimed young actor-musicians, near the beginning of their professional careers, take several roles in each show, including that of the band.

The evening is being hosted by the Friends of Winsford Town Park, with proceeds going towards the upkeep of the park.

Chairman of the Friends, John Malam, said: “If you've already booked your tickets to see Mikron’s latest wonderful show, then you're among the 250-plus people who have.

“But, if you haven't yet booked and are thinking of coming to see the show, please book soon as this is building to be another sell-out.

“Grab your boots and waterproof for a meander with Mikron on a hike through history.

"It's a hill-arious ramble through the history of land access in England from the Norman Conquest to loitering in lockdown, via the infamous mass trespass at Kinder Scout on April 4, 1932.”

The show begins 7.30pm and tickets cost £14 or £12 for concessions. Family tickets are also available for £35, and cover two adults and two children under 16.

For tickets, visit the Friends of Winsford Town Park website, or phone John Malam on 01606 863540.
