A MIDDLEWICH man has been arrested as part of a police crackdown on drugs.

Police carried out five raids across Cheshire this morning (September 5).

Following searches of the properties, officers discovered a quantity of drugs, a large amount of cash and seized criminal property.

A 36-year-old man from Middlewich was one of six arrested as a result of the warrants.

He was taken into custody on suspicion of conspiring to supply class A and B drugs.

Speaking after the arrests, Detective Inspector Adam Cooke said: “Today’s warrants are a culmination of a complex and covert investigation, targeting those we suspect are involved in serious organised crime across Cheshire, and beyond.

“All six have been taken to local police stations for questioning.

"We will proactively work with partners across the North West to dismantle organised crime groups who bring drugs, violence, and misery to our streets."

Also arrested were three men from Crewe, aged 35, 25 and 27.

All are suspected of conspiring to supply class A drugs.

Meanwhile, a 36-year-old man from Sandbach was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply both class A and B drugs.

Finally, a woman from Sandbach, also 36, was taken into custody on suspicion of money laundering.

DI Cooke added: “If you have concerns about drug dealing in your area you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, call Police on 101.

"Always contact 999 if a crime is in progress.”
