A PAGEANTRY star is eyeing up the national title after enjoying local success.

Winsford resident Isobel Nelis was recently crowned Miss Teen Cheshire West.

The accolade sees the 16-year-old qualify for the Miss Teen Great Britain grand final which takes place on October 13.

“Winning? There’s always a possibility but I wouldn’t want to get ahead of myself, but to win would be amazing!” Isobel said.

“Me and loads of girls around the country put so much into these but first place or last place, I wouldn’t mind, just to be there is an achievement!”

Isobel, who attended Winsford Academy, says she got into pageantry after seeing it advertised on social media.

“Pageantry isn’t something that runs through my family,” she said.

“I kept seeing it advertised on Instagram and other social media sites.

“I decided I wanted to be the person who does it, to hopefully inspire other young girls to get into pageantry!”

Earlier this year, she won the local title.

Isobel added: “Winning the title of Miss Teen Cheshire West felt unusual because you never really hear about girls from this area participating in pageants.

“But knowing that I get to represent my county is an honour.”

As part of the pageantry process, Isobel helps raise money for the partner charity – Together For Short Lives.

The charity supports children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families.

On Friday, September 27, Isobel will be hosting a quiz night at Meadow Bank Social Club.

Funds raised will be split between Together for Short Lives and MS Society.

Looking ahead to the future, Isobel is planning to attend university with a view to becoming a paediatric nurse.
