A BODY has been found in the River Weaver during the search for a missing teenager.
Police searching the river discovered a body which they believe to be 16-year-old Jonty Evans, from Baddington.
Officers discovered the body at around 5.13pm on Sunday, September 1, near Riverside, Nantwich.
While the body has not yet been formally identified, police are confident is it that of the missing teenager.
Jonty had been missing since Friday, August 30, and was last seen in the Queens Drive area of Nantwich between 10.45pm and 11.15pm.
Police launched a media appeal on Sunday, September 1, to help locate Jonty, amid growing concerns for his welfare.
His family have been informed.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “At around 5.13pm on Sunday, September 1, police searching the River Weaver near Riverside, Nantwich, as part of enquiries into the report of a missing teenager, sadly found a body.
“While formal ID has not yet taken place, it is believed to be that of the 16-year-old boy, Jonty Evans, who has been missing since Friday, August 30, from the Nantwich area.
“His next of kin have been informed.”
