POPPY Maskill has won a second medal in the Paris Paralympics Games.
The 19-year-old, who hails from Middlewich, has won a silver medal to add to the gold she won on Thursday.
She won her women’s 200m freestyle S14 heat in the Paris La Defense Arena this morning and was the fastest qualifier going into this evening’s final.
Maskill, the former Northwich Centurions and Winsford Swim Team competitor, finished the medal race almost three seconds quicker than her heat, recording her fastest time in the event this year in 2:07.06.
But she was two seconds behind Shabalina Valeriia, a Neutral Paralympic Athlete.
Great Britain’s Louise Fiddes achieved the bronze.
Maskill’s name went into the history books and started a media frenzy on Thursday when she won Great Britain’s first gold medal of the Paris Paralympics.
That came in sensational style, winning the women’s100m butterfly S14 in world-record breaking time.
