A NEW music festival comes to Middlewich this weekend.

The first-ever Middlewich Live takes place on Saturday (August 31), with several pubs and bars around the town getting involved.

With less than 24 hours to go, it has now been confirmed that The Big Lock on Webbs Lane will also be taking part in the festivities.

“Last-Minute Announcement! We’re thrilled to announce a new venue for Middlewich Live: The Big Lock!” read a post on the event’s Facebook page.

“Get ready for even more amazing performances in this fantastic space.

“Stay tuned—artist line-up coming soon! Don’t miss out on this exciting addition to the event.”

Middlewich Live is a joint collaboration between eight of the town’s venues.

Around 40 bands and artists will take to the stage, raising money for St Luke’s Hospice.

Martin Moseley, landlord of the Kings Lock, came up with the idea, having helped to launch West Kirby Live when he lived on the Wirral.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to it!

“To be honest we’re a bit nervous with it being the first year but to bring some of the bands and how talented they are to the Middlewich area is great.

“It’s going to take some time to build the event up but we’ve had a really good response so far with it being the first year.

“Hopefully this can become an annual event, if the town gets behind it then there’s no reason why not!”

Also taking part is the White Bear and the Vaults, both on Wheelock Street, as well as the Kings Arms on Queen Street, Cheshire Cheese on Lewin Street, Turnpike on Warmingham Lane and the Kinderton on Kinderton Street.

All venues will be free entry, with music getting underway at midday.

Headline acts include Sherry Counsellors, Ninety Two, Blonde-Age, Hollow Souls, Amy Antrobus Band, Famous First Words and Minstrels of Mischief.
