A DRINK-DRIVER took a sporty Mini Cooper without consent before smashing it into another vehicle in a Northwich car park.

Jamie Pratt also attacked a man by beating him.

The 29-year-old, who had protested his innocence until the last moment, also confessed to driving with no licence or insurance, and failing to stop or report the crash, at his trial at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, August 28.

Pratt took the car, a 2017 Mini Cooper, without consent on September 22, 2023, before driving it on Chester Way, and a nearby car park.

There he hit another car, a Seat, causing damage to the bumper, a rear panel, and the door, as well damaging the stolen Mini he was driving.

When caught up with by police and breathalysed, he blew 66 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, nearly twice the legal limit.

After eventually admitting aggravated vehicle taking, assault by beating, drink driving, failing to stop and to report an accident, and driving without a licence or insurance, magistrates him banned from driving immediately.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report, and Pratt, of Mirabel Way, Doncaster, was ordered to attend Warrington Magistrates’ Court to be sentenced on Wednesday, September 25.
