TWO freshly hand-smashed beef patties, grilled turkey bacon, a fried egg, fresh lettuce, caramelised onions, Monterey Jack cheese and signature house sauce – Burg ‘N’ Ice knows how to make a good burger.

Shakeel Javaid opened Burg ‘N’ Ice on Witton Street in Northwich in January 2023.

Shakeel, who is 37 and has lived in Northwich for 17 years, said: “My father has owned his own business for many years, which has served as an inspiration to me.

“I have also taken some business classes myself in the past.

“Owning my own business allows me to be more creative than I would normally be able to be.

“After travelling to different cities, we noticed that smashed burgers were a popular new cuisine.

“Being a foodie myself and seeing the gap in the market in Northwich, my business partner and I decided to bring this business to our town.”

Burg ‘N’ Ice has eight different burgers on the menu - a mixture of beef and chicken.

Their best seller is the brunch burger, which comes with two freshly hand-smashed beef patties, grilled turkey bacon, a fried egg, fresh lettuce, caramelised onions, Monterey Jack cheese and their own signature house sauce.

The nacho burger is another popular choice - a departure from your typical beef burger with two freshly hand-smashed beef patties covered in melted American cheese, fresh lettuce, jalapenos, Chilli Heatwave Doritos and a special Algerian sauce.

When Shakeel heard Burg ‘N’ Ice had made the shortlist for Mid Cheshire’s Best for Burgers 2024 he appreciated the recognition of the good food they serve.

Shakeel said: “It is very encouraging to be recognised for the food we offer to our customers and it affirms we are providing a service which people appreciate.

“It feels fantastic to win.

“We were also shortlisted last year, but failed to win, so this year we are delighted to have been voted Best for Burgers in Mid Cheshire.

“I would like to thank all our customers, social media followers, family and friends who have put their faith in us.

“In particular, we’d like to thank our staff for their hard work every day – they are the ones who have really made this happen.

“Thank you!”
