TIM Burgess put money behind the bar after a gig was cancelled at the last minute.
The Charlatans were set to take to the stage with New Order in Cardiff Bay on Thursday night (August 22).
However, ‘extreme weather’ resulted in the show being cancelled just hours before it was due to start.
Wanting to ensure fans could still have a good night, Northwich-raised Tim put £500 behind the bar at Tiny Rebel, with the brewery matching his donation.
Posting on X, Tim said: “Unfortunately our gig with New Order tonight is cancelled due to high winds on the site.
“We are as gutted as everyone who has a ticket. We wanted to let you know as soon as we could.
“We even tried to find a new venue in Cardiff so we could play a show but time and the universe were against us.”
He later posted: “OK, so there’s £1,000 behind the bar at Tiny Rebel. A little something for those who are there for our show that was cancelled.
“The staff are ready for you, it all gets started at 6pm but lots are there already. Meet fellow fans, drink to what will be and what might have been.
“Ping me pics, let me know what’s playing on the jukebox. Raise a glass and hopefully make the best of things.
“The decision to cancel was out of our hands but involved the safety of everyone involved.”
Providing an update this morning, the bar posted: “WHAT. A. NIGHT. Thanks so much to Tim Burgess for making this happen. If you were there, you know.”

New Order have since confirmed that the show was cancelled following a decision by independent health and safety officials.
Ticket holders have been advised that refunds will be made automatically.
A statement released by the band read: “Further to our announcement that the gig has been cancelled tonight we'd like to make it clear that the extreme weather that caused the cancellation of the event was earlier this morning.
“Independent health and safety officials determined that the site was unsafe for staff to work during this period, which meant staff were unable to do the essential works to make the site safe or to install New Order's production.
“It was not a decision taken lightly and New Order are very sorry that this was out of their control.
“All tickets will be refunded automatically, we have been told that you should allow 10 business days for the refund to appear in your account.”
