A NEW musical is coming to Northwich after performing to multiple sell-out crowds on its debut UK tour.

Written by Gareth Hides, It Is Well With My Soul will be performed at The Grange Theatre from 7pm on Wednesday, August 28.

The production arrives in Northwich after a world premiere tour in 2023 in which five out seven performances, including at the Other Palace Studio in London, were sold out.

Hides’ musical was created to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the sinking of the Ville du Havre ocean liner, which prompted the writing of the classic gospel hymn - ‘It is well with my soul'.

The performance traverses through pain, loss and the indomitable strength of the human spirit in a moving story of struggle, resilience and hope.

Set against the rebuilding era following the American Civil War, Philip (Adam Stone) and Lucy Bliss (Katrina Markham) navigate life in the bustling city of Chicago. In the face of tragedy and emotional turmoil they must learn to find hope amidst despair.

The tour has received commendation from critics already, with a five-star review by the London Fringe Theatre Reviews hailing ‘It Is Well With My Soul’ as ‘poignant, elegant and deeply moving’.

The Baptist Times celebrated the performance describing Hides’ vision as ‘a truly remarkable show’.
