PUBS are teaming up for an all-day music festival.
The first-ever Middlewich Live takes place later this month, bringing together seven of the town’s venues.
Around 40 bands and artists will take to the stage on Saturday (August 31) as they set out to raise money for St Luke’s Hospice.
Martin Moseley, landlord of the Kings Lock, said: “I’m really looking forward to it!
“To be honest we’re a bit nervous with it being the first year but to bring some of the bands and how talented they are to the Middlewich area is great.”
Martin previously lived on the Wirral, where he helped launch West Kirby Live, which raised more than £20,000 in four years.
He has now decided to bring this idea to Mid Cheshire and is hoping it will be as successful.
“It’s going to take some time to build the event up but we’ve had a really good response so far with it being the first year,” he said.
“I don’t know how much we will raise this year, we haven’t really put a cap on it. That said, there’s a lot going on in Middlewich musically so we’re hoping we can tap into that.
“Middlewich Live is a totally mixed bag. We’ve got all kinds of music, from folk to heavy metal.
“Hopefully this can become an annual event, if the town gets behind it then there’s no reason why not!”
The White Bear and the Vaults, both on Wheelock Street, will also be taking part in the free-to-attend festival.
As will the Kings Arms on Queen Street, Cheshire Cheese on Lewin Street, Turnpike on Warmingham Lane and the Kinderton on Kinderton Street.
The music gets going from midday, with the last performances starting at 10pm.
Some of the headline acts include By the Waves, The Lotts, Ninety Two, Sherry Counsellors, Isaac Neilson and the Salt Town Legends.
Midland Railway, who will play sets at both the Cheshire Cheese and Turnpike, said: “Middlewich Live is definitely the place to be on August 31 - seven stages to choose from, all free entry.
“We have never played Middlewich before and are very much looking forward to putting that right!”
Organisers are still looking for raffle prizes and volunteers.
