THERE were 230 babies born at Leighton Hospital in July 2024 – did you welcome a new arrival?

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust collates all the baby-related data every month detailing how many babies are born – boys and girls – whether there are any sets of twins or triplets and how babies are delivered.

There are stats for the number of babies born on their due date, before their due date and after their due date as well as the how many new arrivals experienced skin to skin at birth or were breast fed within 48 hours.

There were 230 babies born at Leighton Hospital last month – 54.4 per cent were boys and 45.5 per cent were girls.

There were two sets of twins and 80 per cent of babies experienced skin to skin straight after being born with 69.5 per cent being breast fed within 48 hours.

Seven babes arrived on their due date, 155 were born before their due date and 68 were late - 35 per cent of women were induced.

Some 1.3 per cent were home births and 7.3 per cent were water births with 83 per cent of babies delivered on the labour ward or in theatre and 14.7 per cent were on the midwife led unit.

Unassisted vaginal births accounted for 51 per cent with 23.5 per cent elective caesarean sections and 19.1 per cent emergency caesarean sections.

Some 2.1 per cent were forceps births and 4.3 per cent were ventouse deliveries.

Every month we appeal for your pictures of your new babies.

These babies feature in an online article every month and will also appear in a special supplement at the start of next year.
