A MYSTERY Cheshire resident has bagged himself half a million pounds.

Known only as Mr B, the mystery man won the top prize on Thunderball, scooping £500,000 in the draw on July 30.

The lucky winner is planning to use the money to enjoy his retirement.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at the National Lottery, said: “Huge congratulations to Mr B, who has become £500,000 richer overnight.

“He can now look forward to a lovely retirement with some extra cash in his pocket.”

Mr B is one of more than eight million players that win each week on the National Lottery’s range of games.

Interactive winners have the opportunity to release their name, remain completely anonymous or, like Mr B, release some details through partial publicity.

Players can buy tickets online, on the high street, or by downloading the National Lottery app, with the option of using a lucky dip or picking your own numbers.

By playing any National Lottery game, players generate £30m each week for National Lottery-funded projects, with more than 690,000 grants made across the UK to date.
