Ten beauty salons and technicians made the shortlist for the latest Best of 2024 award and The Beauty Spot has taken this year’s coveted crown officially giving the area’s best glow up.
Rebecca Collins has been in the nail industry since 2001, working mobile as well in Valentine’s hair salon and Déjà vu in Hartford.
She still ‘tag teams’ with these salons at special occasions and events like weddings.
Rebecca, who grew up in Barnton and now lives in Wincham, said: “The Beauty Spot is a beauty salon offering nails, beauty and lashes as well as makeup, event hair and liquid lipo body contouring.
“I am always adding new treatments and keeping up with new trends and products.
“My salon is vegan, eco-friendly and mainly uses products supplied from small independent UK businesses.
“I am currently in the process of launching my own skincare and bodycare range - The Beauty Spot Cosmetics.
“The whole one is organic, natural, vegan and eco-friendly.
“The packaging is cobalt blue glass and we will be offering refills in compostable packaging.”
Generations of Rebecca’s family are self-employed and seeing their drive, dedication and hard work inspired Rebecca to open her own business.
Rebecca, who is 40, said: “It’s so inspiring and so rewarding.
“I am also driven and creative and like to have control over my life and career, steering my own course and destiny.
“I have multiple qualifications in beauty and nail therapy as well as an art degree and level 4 in digital marketing and social media management.
“As well as my beauty business, this has also come in extremely useful in my other business The Beauty Box UK.
“I love my job and my business.
“I thrive when I see someone smile and think that I’ve made them happy in their own skin.
“Self-love and mental health is so important and I am that I get to be a part of that for so many people, especially in today’s world, which is full of unrealistic expectations.
“I like to show people their real true beauty of their own skin and get them to feel their best version of themselves.”
The Beauty Spot is vegan eco salon with strong ethical values and using mainly products produced in the UK by smaller independent businesses.
What do customers think of The Beauty Spot? Why did they think the business should win our latest Best of 2024 award?
One regular said: “This is a friendly beauty salon - goes above and beyond to help and advise clients.
“Nails, eyebrows, eyelashes and much more!”
Rebecca said: “The Beauty Spot not your usual salon - I am very homely and relaxed.
“Clients bring their slippers, their kids, a book and sometimes their work to their appointments.
“I am happy to work around everyone’s busy life and make my clients more relaxed.
“I know everyone’s life inside and out and I am always glad to lend an ear and listen while sipping a cup of tea and nibbling on a biscuit.
“I have a mini allotment in my garden and I’m always sending clients home with potatoes, cucumbers, carrots and strawberries, especially those who struggle and are super busy.
“I like to make a difference and help where I can.”
She added: “My clients aren’t just clients, they are family to me.
“Seeing my clients smile at the end of a treatment and knowing that they feel amazing in their own skin is just wonderful.”
When Rebecca heard she’d made the shortlist for Mid Cheshire’s Best for Beauty for the third year in a row she felt loved and appreciated by her clients.
She said: “I do my job for them and to see their happy faces, so it’s nice to know it’s reciprocated.
“I felt ecstatic when I heard I’d won.
“Three years on the run I have won this award and I still feel overwhelmed and grateful to everyone who took the time to buy a paper and vote for me.
“I am very touched.
“My clients are my life and I wouldn’t have a business without them.
“I thank each and every one of my clients from the bottom of my heart.
“I have had some clients for 20 years and their support and friendship means the world to me.
“I have seen their children grow and they too have become clients.
“I am Aunty Becky to so many and I love it.”
