WHAT a morning in Paris!
Sibling rowers have won two wonderful medals in the Olympic Games.
Emily and Tom Ford, who hail from Holmes Chapel and are former students at The Grange School in Hartford, Northwich, were in respective Team GB women’s and men’s eight boats this morning at Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium in the French capital.
First on the water was Emily, 29, with her crew and they got the momentous Ford family occasion off to a brilliant start, winning the bronze medal.
They were squeezed out by Canada for the silver, and held off the threat of Australia to cross the line third.
Top four result: 1 Romania, 5:54.39; 2 Canada, 5:58.84; 3 Great Britain 5:59.51; 4 Australia, 6:00.73 Tom’s crew were in action straight after in what was the final race of the Olympic regatta.
And finishing in style, the 31-year-old helped the men’s eight win gold to add to the bronze won in Tokyo 2020.
Top three result: 1 Great Britain, 5:22.88; 2 Netherlands; 5:23.92; 3 USA, 5:25.28.
