A NORTHWICH man accused of falsely imprisoning and raping a woman multiple times is set to stand trial.
Valutham Jeganathan, of Clifton Drive, is due to appear at Chester Crown Court today, Monday, where he faces charges for multiple offences.
The 48-year-old is charged with six counts of rape, two of assault causing actual bodily harm, two of making threats to kill, one of false imprisonment, one of engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and one of wounding causing grievous bodily harm without intent.
At a court hearing on August 29 last year, Jeganathan denied all of the charges.
Jeganathan is accused of physically assaulting the woman, threatening to attack her with a chopping board and knife, raping her multiple times and threatening to kill.
The trial will be heard before Judge Simon Berkson and is estimated to last around 42 hours.
