POLICE have launched a murder investigation after the death of a Northwich woman in Somerset.
Avon and Somerset Police officers were called to an address in Portway, Frome, shortly after 3am on Tuesday, July 30, by the ambulance service.
Paramedics had been treating a woman before she was taken to hospital in a serious condition, but she died later that day despite the best efforts of medical staff.
The woman has now been formally identified as 29-year-old Olivia Wood, of Northwich, and her next of kin has been informed.
Following initial inquiries, detectives have now charged Keiron Goodwin, aged 32 and of Frome, with murder.
He is due to appear at Bristol Magistrates Court today, Friday.
Neighbourhood Inspector Rose Green, from Avon and Somerset Police, said: "Our thoughts at this devastating time are with Olivia’s family who are being supported by a specially trained family liaison officer who will continue to keep them updated of enquiries into her tragic death.
"We’d like to reassure the local community, we do not believe there to be any wider risk to the public."
