A WEDDING without a hitch is what dreams are made of!
Susannah Rehbein and Samuel Lake tied the knot in Knutsford just three weeks ago – the perfect day to start married life.
Here, Susannah, who is 30, and 33-year-old Sam, from Higher Wincham, tell us their wedding story, in their own words.
If you’ve tied the knot this year or are planning to get married in the next few months, and would like to appear in ‘Our Wedding Day’ feature, email heidi.summerfield@newsquest.co.uk
When and how did you meet?
Susannah: We met online on Tinder in January 2021. We went on a seven-mile walk through the Countess of Chester Country Park.
What did you think of each other when you first met?
Susannah: We both thought other was funny, attractive and special.
Where and when did you get engaged?
Sam: We got engaged at Christleton Duck Pond in October 2022.
How did one of you propose?
Susannah: Sam proposed to me with an engagement ring dating back to 1910.
What was the date of the wedding and reception?
Sam: We got married on Saturday, July 13.
What was the location of the wedding and reception?
Sam: The ceremony was conducted at Knutsford Methodist Church and the reception followed at Lach Dennis Village Hall.
How were you feeling on the morning of your wedding?
Susannah: We were both feeling nervous and excited at the same time.
How would you describe your wedding?
Susannah: It was simply amazing. The whole day went without a hitch. It was a fun and relaxed reception with Guy Portoeus playing the piano throughout.
How many guests did you have?
Sam: We had 60 guests.
What did your guests eat?
Sam: Gill and Jo at Cheshire Caterers, Knutsford, supplied the food. We had canapes on arrival with Nyetimber sparkling wine followed by a hot and cold buffet.
Did you have a first dance? If so, what was the song and why did you choose it?
Susannah: We chose Andy Williams’ Can’t Take My Eyes Off You. We choreographed a really fun first dance routine!
Did you have speeches? How did they go?
Susannah: We did and they were perfect - emotional but lovely.
What are your favourite memories of the day?
Susannah: Watching all of our plans come together and seeing what our amazing suppliers had created for us. The flowers by Caroline at Flowers at the Dutch Barn were particularly beautiful and our wedding cake, which was crafted by Jan at Cake Celebrations, was stunning.
Tell us a little bit about your outfits on the day
Susannah: I knew exactly what type of dress I wanted - something with a bow. I found the most beautiful dress by Nicole Milano from Charlotte Elizabeth Bridal in Matlock. It was simple but so elegant, crafted with Mikado silk. The best part was that it had pockets!
Sam: I went for a summery beige suit with a navy pinstripe running through it.
Did you go on honeymoon? Where did you go?
Sam: We are going on honeymoon to Samos, Greece for a fortnight.
Please tell us a little bit about the things you have in common. Why do you love each other? Why did you want to get married?
Susannah: We love cooking together every evening and growing vegetables out in the back garden and on our allotment. At the weekends, we love going for country walks and stopping off at a pub for lunch. We are also partial to a tourist activity like Chester Cathedral at Heights Tour.
