A SWIM school teaching the vital skill to babies and children has visited more primary schools to promote water safety in time for summer.
Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire has given talks in schools to highlight how important water safety is by keeping children fully engaged with interactive elements that are both educational and fun.
The team has already visited primary schools across Northwich earlier this year and recently made a splash at Hermitage, Holmes Chapel and Goostrey primary schools.
Rachel Bateson, franchise manager of Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire said: “Safety is always high on the agenda here at Puddle Ducks, so to be able to extend our tour to reach even more Cheshire children is so important.”
The initiative runs all year round but a major focus is placed on summer months, when deaths by drowning hit their peak in the UK, particularly in July.
With drowning amongst the 10 leading causes of death for children aged five to 14 years, Puddle Ducks considers raising awareness of water safety imperative in the area.
The National Water Safety forum highlights the issue of drowning: “Globally, an estimated 235,600 people drown every year.”
“The UK figures showed that in 2023 there was 236 accidental drownings, with more dying at inland waters than at the coast.”
