PUB regulars are trekking from a Liverpool hospital to their local in Middlewich in honour of a beloved toddler's Leukaemia carers.

Theo Bond, who's two-and-a-half, has been receiving ‘absolutely incredible care’ at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital according to family friend, Clare Hayes, and his family and their friend want to give something back.

The team are all regulars at the Vaults pub on Wheelock Street, run by Theo’s godparents, Bev Bryning and Carl Wooding, which has become something of a hub for the project.

They hope to get back there in time for last orders on Saturday, July 27, after setting off from Alder Hey at 6am that morning, a whopping 29 miles away.

Theo’s dad, Matthew Bond, is joining the walkers, who'll be supported by a team of volunteers in vehicles to give them every chance of making their mammoth trek a success.

Clare added: “Theo is receiving treatment cycles of chemotherapy at Alder Hey and he’s doing really well.

“Everyone involved is so grateful to staff there for doing such an amazing job, and we all just wanted to give something back.

“It's a long way to walk in a day, but we’re all 100 per cent up for it. We’re a very determined bunch.

“I’ve bought a treadmill to train for it, and my husband Paul is a porter at Leighton Hospital, so he walks loads of miles every day. He’ll have a bit of an advantage."

As well as Theo’s dad Matthew, the walkers are Clare Hayes, Paul Hayes, Alex Buckley, Teri Taylor, Dean Pallett, and Logen Steele.

So far, they've raised £457 for Alder Hey’s charity, but they’re aiming to reach at least £1,000 by the end of tomorrow.

If you’d like to donate to the team’s cause, you can do so via their JustGiving page.

Clare added: “We’ve got a wonderful team supporting us, all friends of Theo’s family who are carrying the extra food, drink, spare clothes, all that kind of thing.

“You don’t want to see my dining room table with all the stocks and supplies.

“It’s going to be a real team effort, and we’d be so grateful a people’s support.”
