INVESTIGATIONS have been carried out after ‘human waste’ was spotted in a canal.
A dog walker in Barnton was left disgusted after noticing what appeared to be human waste in a canal.
This prompted the Canal and River Trust to carry out investigations, although no cause has yet been identified.
A spokesperson said: “The local team conducted an investigation.
“The effluence dissipated within hours, and there was no obvious cause or damage to the canal or wildlife.”
The muck was first noticed by a local resident during their lunch break on Wednesday (July 24).
“Horrible scenes on my daily dog walk,” they said.
“The canal at Barnton is full of human waste and as bad as it looks, it smells worse.
“It will be arriving at the boat lift shortly to put the visitors off their lunch!”
