A 'STATE-OF-THE-ART' firefighting training centre is opening up to the public.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is hosting an open day at Winsford Fire Station, in Sadler Road, on Tuesday (July 30).
For the first time in the service’s history, it will also be welcoming visitors to its high-tech Command Training Suite.
The suite is an immersive, 3D environment providing the most realistic training possible to experience high-risk incidents without physically attending them.
Elsewhere during the free open day, which runs from 11am to 4pm, visitors will be able to watch a variety of scenarios as firefighters tackle a house fire, a hazardous materials incident and a road traffic collision.
There will also be vehicle displays including the fire boat, aerial ladder platform and the Scorpion high reach extending tower.
Visitors can also have a go at water safety games and meet some of the service’s specialist teams such as the rope rescue, wildfire and animal rescue teams.
The first hour of the day is a designated quiet hour with reduced noise levels and limited lighting to create a calmer, more comfortable, atmosphere tailored to individuals with special educational needs.
There is no parking on site, but the centre is just a short walk from Winsford town centre.
