A WOMAN was tragically found dead in bed at her home in Middlewich after taking a fatal drug overdose.

Jessica Waller, of Queens Drive, was discovered by her dad on Sunday, March 17, an inquest has heard.

The 30-year-old had a medical history of anxiety, low mood and methadone overdose, Cheshire Coroners’ Court was told on Wednesday.

She had been prescribed sertraline, an anti-depressant, and desogestrel, a contraceptive pill.

Empty blister packs and a small bag of white powder were found near her body.

Emergency services were called and paramedics found no signs of life and pronounced her dead at the scene.

Police did not find any injuries and concluded there were no suspicious circumstances.

Victoria Davies, area coroner, told the hearing Ms Waller had spoken to her dad on the phone at 3pm on the day before she died and told him she was tired and had a headache.

Ms Waller’s phone, collected from her bedroom, revealed a message was opened and read on her phone at 3.23am on March 17.

A post-mortem toxicological blood analysis found high levels of codeine and gabapentin.

The pathologist concluded that death was due to toxicity arising from a fatal codeine and gabapentin overdose.

The coroner recorded a narrative conclusion and said it was not possible to determine the intention at the time of taking the medication.
