FIREFIGHTERS remain at the scene of an industrial estate fire.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service has provided an update on the blaze at Griffiths Park Industrial Estate in Rudheath.
Five fire engines, four relief fire engines and the service's high volume water pump and water bowser were all sent to the scene when the fire erupted shortly before 6pm on Friday (July 19)
As of 8am on Saturday (July 20), two fire engines remain at the scene with firefighters having worked throughout the night, damping down the area and turning over waste to get to deep hotspots.
Speaking on Friday night, a CFRS spokesperson said: "Shortly before 6pm North West Fire Control received multiple reports of a fire on the Griffiths Park Industrial Estate in Rudheath.
"On arrival, firefighters found an open sided structure measuring approximately 40m x 20m well alight.
"The scene of the fire has been divided into two sectors, each with firefighters using main jets and ground monitors to extinguish the fire.
"A mechanical digger is also being used to turnover the burning material, which is around 60 tonnes of household waste. Further updates to follow."
Updating this morning, they said: "Firefighters have remained at the industrial estate overnight turning over the waste to get to deep hotspots and damping down.
"Two fire engines will be at the scene this morning."
