DRIVERS are being warned of expected disruption as several road closures across Northwich come into force this week.

Cheshire West and Chester Council has issued a number of temporary prohibition of traffic orders to enable a series of roadworks to be completed.

The first road closure comes into force on Monday, July 22, which will see John Brunner Crescent shut to any vehicles not requiring access to properties in the street.

Scottish Power engineers will be excavating the road to replace two link boxes, with the works estimated to take around two weeks to complete.

Two further road closures - in Norley Road, Cuddington, and Abbey Lane, Hartford - will come into force on Wednesday, July 24.

The first, in Norley Road, will see the road shut from its junction with the A556 Round Tower Lodge to just beyond the turn for Hadrian Way.

The full road will be shut daily between 8am and 6pm, before reducing to a one-way closure overnight and at weekends.

It is anticipated the works, for footway reconstruction, will take around three weeks.

Traffic is advised to follow a diversion along Weaverham Road to access the A556 and Norley Road.

The second closure in Abbey Lane is to enable Scottish Power to excavate and reinstate joint bays.

These works should take about a week to complete, with a diversion in place along Chester Road, School Lane, The Green and Riddings Lane.

The road closures will not prevent vehicles needing access to properties along both Norley Road and Abbey Lane from doing so.
