TWO arrests have been made after a man reportedly got out of his car to confront another driver before being hit by a Mercedes.
Emergency services were called to the scene near KFC in Chester Way, Northwich, shortly before 3pm yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.
It is believed the 36-year-old, from Barnton, had abandoned his own vehicle to speak with another man when the collision occurred. The Mercedes the drove off from the scene.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital as a precaution, but was then arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and driving without insurance.
Another man, a 83-year-old from Macclesfield, was also arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent in connection with the incident.
A Cheshire Police spokesman confirmed an investigation into the collision was underway and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
He said: "At 2.48pm on Thursday, July 18, police were called to a collision involving a pedestrian and a car on Chester Way, Northwich, near KFC.
"The pedestrian, a 36-year-old man from Barnton, was taken to hospital as a precaution.
"He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drink driving and driving without insurance; he has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries."
"The car, a Mercedes, left the scene. An 83-year-old man from Macclesfield has since been arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent in relation to the incident.
"He has since been released on bail.
