Firefighters have tackled a blaze at a town centre business.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service has been called to Northwich this afternoon following reports of a fire at a commercial premises.

Four engines, from Knutsford, Winsford and Congleton stations, arrived in Witton Street shortly before 3pm.

A CFRS spokesperson said: "A fire that had broken out in a commercial premises in Northwich was tackled by firefighters in breathing apparatus using hose reel jets.

"The incident was sectorised with teams tackling the blaze by removing plaster to access voids in the building, exposing the seat of the fire through a boarded area and isolating electrics.

"Firefighters remain at the scene and an investigation into the cause of the fire is to be carried out."
