Smokermotive American-style BBQ arrives at Hopley House

Smokermotive arrives at Hopley House, on Nantwich Road, today (July 19).

The family-run street food business will be offering low-and-slow barbecue cooked on a custom-built smoker that looks like a train.

Behind the till is 33-year-old Danny Lloyd from Tarporley.

He said: “This is such great news for a very young business.

“I am seriously looking forward to working with Dave Thornhill (owner of Hopley House) and ensuring we can provide great flavours and an overall fantastic experience at Hopley House.”

Smokermotive first launched in early 2021.

A former pub manager, Danny says he was inspired to do so as a result of Covid restrictions.

He said: “We could only serve food and drink outside.

“Many hospitality venues were brilliant at reacting and innovating and purchased pizza ovens to deal with quick easy demand. We took it one step further and built the train-like smoker.”

Asked why a train, he added: “Smoking food was and still is a very up-and-coming concept and I was intrigued to learn more.

“So, whilst doing the research and scouring the internet from the deep south of America, I came across loads of different designs and ideas.

“I felt the ‘locomotive’ was a great USP to build the business around.”

Smokermotive will be serving at Hopley House every Friday evening from 5pm to 9pm, starting today.

The menu features burgers, beef brisket southern fried chicken, and 16-hour smoked pork, with prices for mains ranging from £7 to £8.

Takeaway and dine-in options are available and you can also order in advance by messaging Smokermotive on Facebook.

“Our customers can expect a product that is cooked from the heart,” added Danny.

“Smoking food is a passion, not an exact science, which makes the results even more rewarding.”
