CONCERNS have been raised about a man with Down’s Syndrome’s care.

An inquest has been opened into the death of Paul Cooper.

Mr Cooper had been living at an unnamed care home when he was admitted to hospital on May 6, suffering from pressure sores.

He was discharged to another care home in Northwich on June 14, but two weeks later, on June 30, Mr Cooper was found unresponsive in his room.

Despite CPR attempts, Mr Cooper was pronounced dead at the scene, age 56.

Following a postmortem, potential concerns with his care were raised.

On Wednesday (July 17), at Cheshire Coroner’s Court, Senior Coroner Jacqueline Devonish formally opened an inquest into Mr Cooper’s death.

An internal review will take place on September 15 ahead of the full inquest on December 2, 2024.
