A WINSFORD woman died after choking on a piece of meat, an inquest heard.

Tracey Radcliffe, of Kingsway, died on February 19 at Leighton Hospital in Crewe following a choking incident at her supported living accommodation.

It was heard at the inquest of Ms Radcliffe at Cheshire Coroners Court on Wednesday, she had been eating a plate of meat when she began to choke on a particularly large piece, the day prior to her death.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and found her to be in cardiac arrest, area coroner Jacqueline Devonish explained.

The emergency responders removed the large piece of meat from her airway and she was rushed to Leighton Hospital.

The 50-year-old was put on treatment which she did not respond well to and sadly died the following day.

Coroner Devonish confirmed the cause of death to be hypoxic cardiac arrest. She ruled the death to be an accident.

Ms Devonish concluded the hearing by extending her sincere condolences to Ms Radcliffe's family.
