ORGANISERS of Northwich's first ever full-scale Pride festival have announced the date and venue.
While several pubs and restaurants have held their own Pride events in recent years, Saturday, November 2, will see member of the LGBTQ+ community working with partner agencies and allies to deliver not one, but two exciting events, each with a different flavour.
Both are happening at the iconic Plaza on Witton Street - one in the daytime, and one on the evening.
The daytime event, running from morning to early evening, will feature live acts, talks from community members, information and advice stands, and engaging, free, inclusive activities, accessible to all.
The nighttime event, which kicks off at 7pm, will have more of a party vibe, and will include live music, DJs, and dancing.
While the daytime event is free, the nighttime session will be ticketed, which tickets going on sale later in the summer.
Any profits will go towards helping members of the LGBTQ+ community develop strong partnerships in the town, with a view to developing more events going forward.
A spokesman for Northwich Pride 2024 said: “Over the past five years, we’ve seen Pride events entering the Northwich calendar ranging from The Quayside Pride Fest and Pride@TheDog, to the numerous drag shows at That South African Place.
“Now, Northwich Pride 2024 aims to showcase the range of local organisations and community groups working in partnership to promote diversity and inclusion for all the residents of the town.”
Northwich Pride 2024 will be using Weaver Hall as a HQ in the run up to the event, which will include a series of creative workshops throughout July, which people can attend.
These including mask making with Radiate Arts CIC, and sessions with the Northwich and Cheshire Pride Community Quilt Project.
Organisers added: “We’d like to thank Northwich BID; Weaver Hall Museum; Friends of the Plaza; Jon Houghton; Silver Rainbows; Northwich Police; Abda's Coffee, Cake, and Culture; Vinnie's; Radiate Arts CIC; and the Northwich and Cheshire Pride Community Quilt Project for all their efforts to help get Northwich Pride 2024 off the ground.”
