POLICE have confirmed that gunshots were fired whilst they were dealing with a disturbance in Northwich.
Officers have issued a statement following an incident on Burgess Place.
Police attended an address at 2.08pm on Monday following concerns for the welfare of an occupant.
A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence.
Police say a number of shots were fired whilst officers were dealing with the incident.
Armed officers and at least five police cars were at the scene.
Assistant Chief Constable Una Kelly said: “We understand the concern this incident is likely to cause, but we would like to reassure residents that this is an isolated incident and there is no risk to the wider community.
“Officers will remain in attendance at the scene for several hours and I would urge anyone with any concerns to speak to an officer.”
