FOOTBALL will help raise money for an important cause.

Barton Stadium is to host a football tournament on the day of the European Championship final.

The event will raise money for 4Louis, a charity which supports families coping with miscarriage, stillbirth and child loss.

Organiser Leah Banks is an ambassador for the charity, which is one that is close to her heart.

She said: “After months of planning, I’m really looking forward to the event.

“It’s a great opportunity to spread awareness around what is still a taboo subject and raise funds for a sadly needed but fantastic charity, whilst holding a light-hearted fun event for all the family to enjoy.

“My nephew was sadly stillborn in January 2019 at Leighton Hospital and my sister and brother-in-law were provided with a memory box from 4Louis.”

In the past, Leah has organised two charity balls, online fundraisers, a race night and an Easter party for various good cause.

The 4Louis football tournament, organised by Mundo Footballing School, takes place from 10am to 4pm on July 14, ahead of the Euro 2024 final which kicks off at 8pm.

Alongside the sports, visitors will be able to enjoy around 30 stalls selling a huge range of things, including doughnuts, jewellery, crafts, tapas, pizza and face paint.

There will also be bouncy castles, fairground rides, DJ Tommy Bromley, local singers such as Sophie Bond, and a Jo jingles session courtesy of Cheryl Mahon for the younger guests.

Leah, a 24-year-old business analyst from Winsford, added: “I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported this event with stalls, sponsorship and prizes as well as the volunteers and to everyone who will attend on the day as well.
