ANNE Hegerty from The Chase is coming to Winsford.

The Governess will host a charity quiz night next month to raise money for St Luke’s Hospice.

Most will know Anne from the popular ITV game show as well as her stint on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

What is perhaps less common knowledge is that she used to work as a reporter for one of the Guardian’s sister titles in South Wales.

Then, in December 2014, Anne starred in The Grange Theatre’s Christmas pantomime, Cinderella, as the Wicked Stepmother.

“I'm delighted to have been asked by St Luke's to host the quiz,” said Anne.

“It's going to be a lot of fun and with questions on a wide range of subjects, there will be something for everyone to answer.

“I'm looking forward to asking the questions for a change, instead of having to answer them!”

The quiz night has been organised by Winsford locals John and Hilary Malam, who have been very keen supporters of St Luke’s for a number of years.

It takes place on Saturday (July 20) at Winsford Academy.

Tables have been selling quickly and the event is expected to sell out well in advance.

St Luke’s community fundraiser, Rachel Hughes, said: “Hilary and John came to us with an idea for a quiz night with their friend of many years, Anne Hegerty.

“We all know how busy Anne is, and she must be asked to host quizzes all the time, but when Hilary and John asked her, she got back straightaway to say she’d love to host our very special quiz!

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to Anne for kindly agreeing to host the event.”

On the night quizzers can expect bar refreshments, ice cream and a raffle.

There will also be a question and answer session with Anne.

Doors open at 6.30pm, with the quiz getting underway at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £12 each and must be pre-booked online at www.slhospice.co.uk/event/thequiz/.

Please be aware that the event is for over 18s only.
