ROADS will close for a new running event.
RunThrough Events’ first-ever Northwich 10k takes place this weekend, with around 1,000 runners set to take part.
To accommodate the event, road closures are being put in place.
Businesses have warned customers of the potential disruption, with some planning to open early for the occasion.
A Facebook post from Northwich Memorial Court read: "On Sunday there is a 10k run taking place around Northwich therefore there will be some road closures around the centre which may affect your visit."
Zaza Cafe Bar on Witton Street posted: "This Sunday the cafe will be open from 7am due to Northwich 10k taking place as a few of the runners have requested us to open for breakfast and pre-run caffeine fixes.
"So, if you're part of the run or just spectating come along and get your breakfast."
The new 10k event begins and ends at Barons Quay on Sunday (June 30).
Road closures will come into effect at 8.45am ahead of a 9am start.
Runners will start by head over Town Swing Bridge and along Winnington Lane before reaching Soot Hill.
After a detour around Hough Lane and Cogshall Lane, participants will run through Marbury Country Park and Carey Park before arriving back at Barons Quay.
Roads will reopen as and when the final runners have passed through, with the race due to finish at around 11am.
A letter has been sent out to residents along the route.
It reads: "In light of this event, there will be traffic management procedures in place.
“These procedures have been designed to offer minimal disruption and will be managed by an expert traffic management company that will reopen roads as soon as possible and provide appropriate diversions during disrupted times.
“The race has been designed as a single-lap course so that roads can be reopened as the last runners pass by.”
Anyone who lives on the route is able to claim a free entry to the race by emailing north@runthrough.co.uk.
Meanwhile, anyone expecting visits from home carers during the race is asked to contact the same email address to arrange access contingency plans.
