WELCOME to Behind the Lens, a feature that shines a light on the talented photographers in our Guardian Camera Club group.
This week, Chris Lewis shares some of his favourite photographs.
Chris, who has lived in Northwich all his life, has always taken pictures but set up his own Facebook photography page during the Covid-19 lockdowns, which reignited his passion for the art.

When and why did you take up photography?
On and off for most of my life but I really started during lockdown when I set up my own Facebook photography page. It has always been something I have enjoyed doing but more recently it’s becoming a very real passion of mine, to the point where I’d like to do it as a full time job. I’d like to print canvases and such.
What do you love about taking pictures?
It gets me out and about and allows me to see new and beautiful places. The joy I get from being out in nature with my camera, gives me a mental boost. Whenever I feel low, I just head out and snap away.

Where is your favourite place to take pictures and why?
Any place that catches my eye to be fair, especially if it’s by water. Marbury Park is a favourite of mine as it holds so many memorable things. It’s a place that I just adore as it’s right on my doorstep. It’s a great asset to Northwich having such a vast open space to explore.
What is your favourite subject matter and why?
The countryside or nature reclaiming back what man has destroyed. There is beauty all around us, if you stop to look - especially in the little things. Seldom do people stop to appreciate it.

What do you enjoy about being part of our Camera Club on Facebook?
I get to see and share beautiful photos. It gives me inspiration for my own pictures and hopefully I inspire other people’s photography too.
If you could photograph anyone/any place/anything, who/what would it be?
My family out enjoying the world. Another would be to take a picture of the Milky Way in time-lapse. I just need to be able to afford a better camera for that one.
