A MAN and a woman are facing court summons after police launched an investigation into driving offences in Winsford.

Officers received reports a car was being driven up and down Rilshaw Lane on Monday night (June 17) with children hanging onto the roof.

After they arrived at the scene at around 9.45pm, the driver fled in another car, leaving two women in the back of the BMW.

Continuing with their investigation, police were able to identify two suspects thanks to tip-offs from members of the public.

Now a 21-year-old man, from Middlewich, and an 18-year-old woman, from Winsford, have been quizzed on suspicion of driving offences and will be summonsed to court.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "Thanks to information received from the public allowing our officers to conduct a thorough investigation, we were able to interview two suspects.

"Officers arrested and interviewed a 21-year old-male, from Middlewich, on suspicion of disqualified driving and no insurance. The male will shortly be summonsed to court.

"We also interviewed an 18-year-old female, from the Winsford area, on suspicion of driving otherwise than in accordance with a license and no insurance.

"She will also be summonsed to court shortly.

"Thank you to those of you who contacted us to provide us with information. You've played your part in keeping your communities safe."
