A NUMBER of drink and drug-drivers have been banned from the roads after they appeared at court this week.

Andrew Page, Lewis Dawson and James Wood all appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court on June 13 charged with driving offences.

Thirty-seven-year-old Page, of Oak Drive, Middlewich, pleaded guilty to drink-driving after he was caught on December 15 last year.

After being stopped on Middlewich Road, Crewe, Page underwent a blood test which revealed he had 111 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his blood - above the legal limit of 80 milligrammes.

Taking his plea into account, magistrates disqualified him from driving for 12 months and fined him £120.

Dawson, of Dalefords Lane, Marton, was charged with and admitted to drug-driving.

He was caught in Chelford Road, Ollerton, on December 23 last year with more than 2.2 microgrammes of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannibinol per litre of blood in his system.

The legal limit for this cannabis component is two microgrammes per litre of blood.

The 19-year-old was also handed a 12-month ban and was fined £320 after the bench considered his admission.

Wood, of Chiltern Way, Winsford, also admitted to drug-driving, as well as driving otherwise in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.

The court heard the 21-year-old was caught on the A54 Chester Road near Winsford on January 15 earlier this year.

A subsequent blood test revealed he had 2.3 microgrammes of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannibinol per litre of blood in his system.

The bench banned Wood from driving for 12 months and fined him a total of £180. His guilty plea was taken into account when magistrates considered the punishment.
