CHESHIRE is well represented on the King’s Birthday Honours List.
More than 1,000 people across the UK have received awards in the list announced on Friday (June 14).
Post office campaigner Alan Bates, former primer minister Gordon Brown and artist Tracey Emin are some of the most recognisable names included.
Here in Mid Cheshire, the highest award goes to Jennifer Daly from Northwich.
The chief executive of Taylor Wimpey, Ms Daly has been made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for her services to business and the housing sector.
There are two OBE (Officers of the Order of the British Empire) recipients in the area.
Wilmslow resident Professor Richard Wakeford, a professor of Epidemiology at the University of Manchester has been honoured for his services to the advancement of the science of radiation protection.
Meanwhile, independent case examiner for the Department for Work and Pension, Joanna Jane Carrington from Knutsford, has been awarded an OBE for public service.
Fellow Knutsford resident, Valerie Elaine Bryant has been named a Medallist of the Order of the British Empire (BEM) for services to heritage and the community.
Ms Bryant volunteered at Knutsford Heritage Centre for 17 years, retiring in May after becoming manager in 2010.
Elsewhere in Cheshire, there are awards for football referee Cheryl Foster and Philip John Speight, a canal boat painter, among others.
