RESIDENTS living in the new Mid Cheshire parliamentary constituency have plenty of chances to ask Westminster hopefuls the questions they want answered.

Several hustings events are now in the pipelines giving voters the chance to meet the would-be MPs, hear opening and closing statements, and ask questions all candidates must answer in turn.

The new Mid Cheshire seat includes the majority of Northwich, Winsford, and Middlewich, and places in-between such as Hartford, Davenham, Kingsmead, and Rudheath.

On Monday, June 17, Emmanuel Church Leftwich will be welcoming residents to their hustings. There'll be free tea and coffee, and doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

The first question will be asked by a student of The County High School Leftwich, before turning to pre-submitted written questions, then verbal ones from the floor.

Then on Sunday, June 23, Sustainable Northwich and Winsford Sustainability Partners are hosting a special green hustings event at Winsford Academy on 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Participants already confirmed are Andrew Cooper, Labour; Charles Fifield, Conservatives; Jack Price-Harbach, Liberal Democrats; Mark Green, Green Party, and Helen Clawson, who's standing as an independent.

Stella Mellor, also an independent, and Emma Guy for Reform UK, have been asked to take part in the hustings, but are yet to confirm their attendance.

Sustainable Northwich's Mark Sullivan said: "Around 70 per cent of adults in the UK say not enough is being done to protect the environment for future generations.

"Issues such as flooding, river quality, bus and train services, the Lostock Sustainable Energy Plant, and proposed development projects such as HyNet, Peak Cluster and the Solar Farm are all very topical in Mid Cheshire.

"Residents are invited to come along out these questions on these and other topics."

If you have a question about the climate emergency, the loss of wildlife and natural spaces, water or air pollution, home insulation, public transport, or anything else environment related, please sent it to winsfordsustainability@gmail.com by Friday, June 21, along with your name and address.

Those whose questions are chosen will be contacted prior to the event.
