AN inquest has been opened into the death of a woman killed when her car was involved in a crash with a HGV on the A49.

Emergency services attended the scene on Tarporley Road in Oakmere shortly after the collision at around 7.40am on May 22.

On arrival, it was discovered a white Renault Clio had been hit by a HGV as it crossed the A49 near to the junction of Overdale Lane.

The Clio driver - 31-year-old Sophie Adam, from Crewe - sadly died as a result of the crash. The HGV driver was uninjured.

At a hearing in Cheshire Coroner's Court, Warrington, on Wednesday, June 12, it was heard attending paramedics had confirmed Miss Adam's death at the scene.

Jaqueline Devonish, senior coroner for Cheshire, formally opened the inquest into Miss Adam’s death due to the cause being ‘unnatural’.

The full inquest will be heard at Cheshire Coroners Court on January 27, 2025.

Cheshire Police launched an investigation into the crash and appealed for witnesses to the crash to get in touch.
