FAMILIES now have a chance to take a peek into the world of organic farming in Davenham.
On Sunday, June 9, Riverside Organic Farm Shop and Café is once again hosting Open Farm Sunday at its idyllic Shipbrook Hill Farm.
There will be tractor rides, the chance to feed the animals, machinery on display, a barbeque, Ale on a Bale, live music, games, and even a plant sale run by Davenham Scouts.
The event is free to attend, though the farm asks drivers to book in advance as there are a limited amount of car parking spaces available on the day.
Simon Bennett, who owns the business, said he wants to provide families with something they can enjoy without having to worry about spending a small fortune on a day’s entertainment.
He said: “With cost-of-living what it is, we were keen to keep it free for families with children.
“We’re just try and help by providing people with something fun and free to do.
“Basically, it’s just loads of healthy outdoor things for kids which will hopefully keep them quiet for a couple of hours.”
The farm has one of the best vistas in the whole of Cheshire, with panoramic views over the River Dane towards Davenham and its iconic St Wilfred’s Church spire.
Riverside Organic is also renowned its burgers, which Tripadvisor users have described as ‘legendary’.
Simon added: “We’re hoping to attract people who’ve never made the time to visit us before.
“We’ve got adventure playgrounds and of course, we’ve got the animals to feed.
“We’re quite well placed where we are here, because the café is actually inexpensive for eating out, compared to going to the pub for example.
“We’re just trying to make people aware we’re here.
“And it’s not like going to the zoo where you have to pay out £90 before you’ve even started.
“It’s free to get in and you can come for as long as you like.”
Open Farm Sunday takes place at Riverside Organic Farm Shop & Café at Shipbrook Hill Farm, Manor Lane, Davenham, on Sunday, June 9.
Doors open at 10am, with things going on until 4pm.
