A BARN fire near Northwich has prompted a large emergency service response.
Five fire engines have been sent to the scene of a blaze on Hall Drive off Marston Lane.
It is understood the incident is ongoing as of 4.50pm on Friday (May 17), having been first reported at 3.32pm.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters are currently tackling a large fire involving four farm outbuildings.
"The contents of the buildings include approximately 70 tonnes of straw, grains, timber, and cylinders.
"Crews have set up a ground monitor and are using two sets of breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to tackle the blaze."
One fire engine was sent from each of the stations in Northwich, Lymm, Warrington, Winsford and Knutsford.
An eyewitness has reported that one of the barns has been "totally destroyed", with lots of animal feed and machinery ruined.
*UPDATE*
Shortly before 8pm, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service stated that "good progress" had been made in removing all hay from the barn using farm machinery.
Firefighters remain on scene and continue to dampen the area.
