A BIG-HEARTED little girl from Hartford is shaving her head for an end of life charity in memory of her grandpa she never got to meet.

Jasmine Newbury represent the third generation of women in her family to fundraise in memory of her maternal grandad, Alistair Davies, who died of cancer three years before she was born.

The seven-year-old will be getting her buzzcut at Burdett’s Barbers in Northwich in the half-term holidays.

The Hartford Manor pupil hopes to raise at least £1,000 for Marie Curie, and the fundraising work will also go towards helping her achieve her Brownies charity badge.

Jasmine’s mum, Abi Newbury, also had her head shaved for the charity last year, to mark the 10-year anniversary of her dad Alistair’s death.

She said: “It’s going to be a lot less maintenance at least, with no last-minute hairstyling as we’re trying to leave for school.

“It was all her own idea, and if it’s what she want to do, then its okay with me.

“I did it last year, so I’ve been there, done that, got the t-shirt.”

The new look will be quite a change for Jasmine, who currently had shoulder-length hair.

She's also more than halfway to her funding target already, with a whopping £525 donated through her JustGiving page.

Jasmine said: “I’m not nervous about how I’m going to look. Last year, my mum and granny shaved their hair off, which is what inspired me.

“I’m hoping to raise at least £1,000 for Marie Curie, who helped my grandpa when he had cancer.”
