A WINSFORD man is now behind bars for breaching a restraining order less than a month after it was imposed at court.
Paul Newton had initially avoided jail despite drunkenly attacking his brother and father at the family home in the town.
On March 30 following the 31-year-old's guilty plea to two assault charges, Warrington magistrates handed him a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
Newton was also hit with a 12-month restraining order banning him from entering the family address.
But just three weeks later, on April 20, he breached that order by attending the address.
Returning to the dock at Warrington Magistrates Court on April 22, Newton, who gave a care of address in Picton Drive to the court, admitted the breach.
Taking his plea into account, the bench activated the initial 12-week suspended sentence and imposed a further eight-week term, taking his total to 20 weeks' jail time.
It was heard the reasons for custody were the defendant's 'flagrant disregard for court orders' and the fact this offence had occurred during the operational period of a suspended sentence.
