A COMMUNITY shop for Winsford families who may be struggling to clothe young children has bagged a share of a £1,000,000 grant.
The Green Uniform and Baby Bank helps mums and dads with some of the costs of raising a young family, such as baby equipment, shoes, and school wear.
It also helps reduce waste by recycling donated consumer goods, re-selling them through its community shop, while also campaigning for equality to improve residents’ futures.
The charity has now been awarded a £1,000 grant, following a public consultation, as part of the Benefact Group’s Movement for Good Awards, to help it continue its meaningful work.
All money taken is put back into Mid Cheshire communities by spending any profit on local events and initiatives.
Emma Ball, founder and director of the Green Uniform and Baby Bank, said the award is ‘fantastic’, adding: “It’ll will allow us to continue making sure the whole community have equal access to school uniforms, shoes, baby equipment and clothing, whatever their individual financial situations.
“Our aim is for all children to feel equal to their peers, and to boost the mental wellbeing of parents and carers struggling to provide the basics for their families.”
