THE family of a loving grandmother-to-be who died in a collision on the motorway have paid tribute to her.

At around 12.15am yesterday, Tuesday, Cheshire Police responded to reports of concern for the safety of a woman on a slip road between the M6 and M62 near Warrington.

Officers attended the scene between junctions 21 of the M6 for Woolston and 21a for the M62 at Croft heading northbound.

Sadly however, they found that a woman had been struck by a white Citroen Relay van on the slip road joining the M62.

Tragically, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and she has now been named by police as 52-year-old Lisa Kelsall, of Norton, Stoke-on-Trent.

Today, Wednesday, her family has issued a tribute to her.

They said: "A loving daughter, mother and grandmother-to-be, taken too soon. RIP Lisa Kelsall. Forever in our hearts."

The driver of the van, a 47-year-old man from Preston, had failed to stop at the scene and was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Cheshire Police has confirmed that has since been released under investigation.

Officers are now appealing to anyone who may have dashcam footage, witnessed the collision or saw Lisa's car to get in touch.

Lisa’s car, a white Vauxhall Mokka, was travelling northbound on the M6 from Staffordshire toward Cheshire prior to the incident between 11.30pm on Monday and midnight.
