A CAR dealership is to be built at an anti-social behaviour hotspot.
Mayfair Motor Group is set to move to Lostock Gralam after seeing its planning application for a new office greenlit by the council on Tuesday (April 2).
The dealership will be built on the overflow car park at Cheshire Business Park, which has become the target of fly-tipping and vandalism.
The application reads: “The overflow car park has become the subject of anti-social behaviour as a result of its lack of use, with complaints received by the owner from the parish council.
“This includes fly-tipping, littering, vandalism and unauthorised recreational use.
“The proposed development will bring back into beneficial use an underused overflow car park that is blighted by anti-social behaviour.
“It will incorporate enhanced security features and introduce a level of passive surveillance.
“Subsequently, as a result of the proposed development, there will be a significant improvement to the amenities and safety of both nearby residents and users of the business park.”
Prescot-based MGM, in partnership with Nice Investments Limited, submitted a planning application to Cheshire West and Chester Council in May last year for a single-storey office building and associated infrastructure, including a photography area, a car valet area and a collection point.
This will replace the part of the overflow car park, with some spaces retained and electric vehicle charging points installed.
As well as making the area more secure, MGM says it will provide a boost to the local economy.
A spokesperson said: “We are committed to providing high-quality vehicles, exceptional customer service, and a safe and enjoyable shopping experience.
“We look forward to operating in Cheshire Business Park and look forward to contributing to the local economy.
“In addition to providing high-quality vehicles and exceptional customer service, we support local charities and community organisations.
“We believe that our success is closely tied to the success of the community in which we operate, and we are committed to contributing to the local economy and supporting local businesses.”
As part of this mission, MGM will be looking to hire staff locally as well as use local mechanics, body shops and delivery firms.
MGM operates differently from most dealerships, with the majority of customers visiting via appointment,
“We rarely have walk-in customers, as our customers are specific about the vehicle they want to purchase,” the spokesperson added.
“We are also experiencing sales where customers do not physically visit us to view their desired vehicle.
"Instead, they receive all the necessary information over the phone, receive a video of the vehicle, make the payment, and get the car delivered to them.”
